Coronavirus
I was The Red & Black’s coronavirus reporter from August to December 2020. As the pandemic raged in Athens and at UGA, I reported on the struggle between the city and university regarding COVID-19 cases, the environmental effects of the pandemic and students questioning some of UGA’s COVID-19 precautions.
Business
In my JOUR 3190 class, Reporting and Writing Across Platforms, I am on the business beat. I’ve analyzed business stories written by national beat reporters and covered a Women in Business meeting focusing on the future of travel in 2021. I’m currently working on a profile of a leader in the UGA Entrepreneurship Program.
International news and politics
My beat in my Information Gathering class (JOUR 3090) is international news and politics. In April, our beat group invited a reporter from our beat to speak to our class over Zoom about their career in journalism. We hosted Idrees Ali, a foreign correspondent covering the Pentagon for Reuters. I reached out to Idrees to set up the meeting and led the event, gaining valuable leadership and public speaking skills.
